What I Learned From the Journo Heroes Pt. 2 Assignment: Week 14
The most prominent thing I learned from these presentations by my classmates were the amount of detail that was put forth into these projects. The most detailed I recall was one about Ellen Browning Scripps. Not knowing anything before about this woman before walking into the room on that day, even hearing her name, I left feeling as if I were the one that did the research project on her.

Ellen Browning Scripps stood out to me the most because of her individuality as a wealthy, unmarried, female journalist. Although her net worth was upward of 30 million dollars, she remained humble and made it her career work to donate and bestow her wealth upon plenty establishments and organizations to benefit the less fortunate.
It also was shocking to me that I have never even heard of this woman, and it appeared I wasn't the only one. It was revealed in the presentation that despite Scripps plethora of works, she was unrecognized and unknown largely by the general public, and was only really appreciated after her death.
Thinking of the amount of men who are remembered for works that are even a fraction of hers and the fact she still is underground to the general eye even to plenty of journalists is in fact mind-boggling. The same goes for other female and minority writers.
