Reacting to the Past - Week 3
This is preposterous. We, a new nation, cannot continue in the footsteps of our former. Our oppressors. Who we have fought so valiantly against to separate and become one nation on our own. I, a Revolutionist, a free-minded, free-spirited individual, believes in our rights as humans.
As created by God, we as people have the right to exercise these liberties, and in first we must break away from Britain. Already, we are on the path to succeeding as such. Our leaders, those as George Washington himself, recognize the importance of journalism. A fellow and great colleague, Bruce Chadwick, has reported that General Washington reads as many newspapers as he can. He is a caring, gentle leader, for he reads "to find out how the press and public feel about the army - and him - but also to determine what the British were doing." He is not a tyrant or a power-hungry evil-doer as our former.
We as a new nation, must listen to our leaders. We must keep track and write of our experiences, so our heirs do not repeat the history of Great Britain. Even Thomas Jefferson has realized the value of our writings, he considers their "preservation as duty."
I encourage you, Americans, to keep a watchful eye on the events happening, and the people around you. We are in the making of history. What happens to us needs to be recorded, by story, by text, or by any of the sort possible.
The continuation and tell-tale of our lives and accomplishments should be recorded for generations to come. Stand tall, valiant, and write, write, write. This will keep us alive, and keep us going. God bless.
