Partisan Press Era Meme - Week 5
Some are tethered to one side more than another, but it is more on the rare side that one is unbiased. The effects it has today are conflicts between the parties, debating whether or not the information is reliable and trustworthy, and the amount of information, whether or not the information released is enough and if it isn't, why are things being withheld.
The Penny Press revolutionized the selling of newspapers in the 1800s by being available for only one cent. This seemed absurd, for at the time newspaper sold for 6 cents, and 1 cent was obviously quite a difference. This, however, made news available to almost everyone; immigrants were provided strong material regarding the economy.
To this day, this has had lasting effects on journalism in the United States. News is even more so available now, being widespread by technology such as portable devic3s, internet, and more.
